The Tournament Structure of the Poker Superstars Invitational Event in Season 3

After finishing strong in its second successful season, the poker superstars Invitational Tournament decided to adapt the same structure and format for its extra exciting third season. Because of the wonderful results using the previous format, the various games in the third installment of this huge poker event were played similarly with that of the second season. However, some key changes have to be made to enhance the overall presentation and outcome of the event.

As most changes are always made for the better, Poker Superstars guaranteed that its third season would be more exciting and fun to watch than the previous seasons. Rather than asking each participant for a $40,000 buy-in, event organizers decided to ask for $50,000 from every player as a buy-in, which would eventually lead to higher pot money in the end. Aside from the buy-in, players would only compete in five preliminary contests, unlike the previous season where every player has to go through six grueling tournaments.

The basic structure and format of the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament were also changed, altering the manner on how the final event would be played. Instead of the 2-out-of-3 finals format, a best-of-5 series would be used to determine the ultimate winner of the tournament. Aside from this, the quarterfinal format is changed as well, leading up to a more exciting finish at the end of the event. Simultaneously, the time limit rule was once again modified to bring out a more exciting outcome.

Aside from the aforementioned changes, the payouts were also enhanced to encourage the different participants to play better and smarter. Aside from the elimination and qualifying rounds, these alterations also cover the payouts for the super 16, quarterfinals, semi-finals, and finals. With all the changes touching the payouts, it is obvious that there is more money involved and at stake in this third season.

After the elimination round, the player who can finish first in a match can immediately earn $10,000. After the qualifying round, another $10,000 would be awarded to the top finisher. A bigger payout awaits the top finishers in the different matches in the super 16 round, where anyone who can finish first in match 1 or match 2 can take home a $15,000. Entering the quarterfinals, the one who can finish second in match 1 or match 2 can also take home $15,000, while the top finisher in either match can win $30,000.

At the semifinals, a bigger payoff awaits the top finishers of the different games, with the second-place finisher earning $30,000. On the other hand, the top finisher in the semifinal round can bring home an extra $50,000. If there is more money in the semifinals, bigger prizes are at stake at the final round. While the second place winner can win $140,000, the first place winner and champion can bring home $400,000.
