Johnny Chan: Winner of the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament Season 2

Known as one of the most established players in the history of poker, Johnny Chan used his versatility and extreme talent in the game to capture the championship during the second season of the poker superstars invitational tournament. After falling short in his title quest at the debut season of this special all-star tournament, in which he finished second overall in the final match, he it made is sure to emerge on top of the second tournament right from the very start. Aside from the fame and fortune that this impressive victory has given him, it also made a serious impact on other players that Chan is indeed one of the major forces to respect in the world of poker.

With 23 other outstanding professional players included in the second installment of this major poker event, the road to the championship was definitely not that easy to attain for Chan, especially with some people criticizing some of his end game mistakes in season one. Soon enough, Chan once again found himself in action towards the elusive Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament title in the twelfth elimination match, where he finally gained the top spot together with a $10,000 cash prize. This is already a great achievement in the tournament but it seems that Chan was just starting to enjoy the action. In the sixteenth elimination match, he once again dominated the poker table using his highly effective plays and consistent strategies, giving him another first place finish in one of the most grueling elimination rounds of the poker tournament.

In the twentieth elimination match of the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament, Chan earned another important feat by finishing second overall in that particular event. Despite falling behind Freddy Deeb in that exciting poker contest, he continued on his excellent start in the tournament, making him one of the early favored players to capture the title. With the help of his excellent performances in the earlier rounds, Chan was able to proceed to the next round of the tournament despite finishing a measly seventh place in the twenty-fourth and final elimination match for the season.

The next match for Chan came in the Super 16 round, where he was placed in Group D that includes Mike Sexton, Huck Seed, and David Sklanky. In the first match of that particular round, he won right away that particular round, while finishing strong in the second match. Soon after, he played in the quarterfinal round where he was able to surpass Juan Carlos Mortensen, Deeb, and Sklansky. At the semifinal round, he was pitted against Nguyen, which he defeated en route to a final match against Todd Brunson. In the end, he was able to beat Brunson for the title and the $400,000-pot.
